The church of Timios Stavros - Donoussa

This is a white church, with a blue dome and an ornate bell tower. It is located in the center of the capital city.

It was built in 1902, after a fundraiser organized by Dimitrios Skopelitis, to replace the previous church of Timios Stavros (=Holy Cross) which was completely destroyed by a heavy storm in the late 19th century. It is said that the only thing saved from that church was the image of the "Cross", found on a beach of Amorgos by local fishermen.
