Cyprus Handicraft Center

In the Cyprus Handicraft Center of Nicosia, you can see craftsmen engaged in arts such as weaving, basketry, woodcarving, pottery and the production of leather and traditional copper items. There is a wide variety of handmade products which are sold at the Center’s shop.
The Cyprus Handicraft Center has similar shops in Limassol and Paphos.

Cyprus Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum of Cyprus is located in Nicosia. It includes findings from the prehistoric times to the early Christian period. Extensive excavations throughout the island have enriched the collections of the museum considerably and have brought Cypriot archeology to the forefront of international archaeological research. In the museum you can see items from the cultural heritage of Cyprus: pottery, jewelry, sculpture and coins from the Neolithic period to the Bronze Age, the Iron Age and the Greco-Roman period.

Fikardou Rural Museum

Fikardou village was abandoned in the early 19th century. It has been declared an ancient monument and was carefully restored to preserve the 18th century houses with their remarkable woodwork and traditional architecture. Two out of the three houses have been turned into museums containing agricultural tools and other items associated with rural life.

The village won the Europa Nostra Award in 1987.

Cyprus Folk Art Museum

The museum was built in the 15th century. The richly ornamented Gothic arch with the remarkable fresco of the Annunciation (16th c.) was discovered in 1950. In the early 13th century the area was Frankish (Latin) and part of the old building was used as a monastery by the Order of the Benedictine. The building became the property of the Orthodox Church before the Turkish conquest of Cyprus (1570/1).

Avgorou Ethnographic Museum

The Ethnographic Museum is housed in a traditional two-storey building with a big yard. It is at a short distance from Ayia Napa. Here you will see various objects (from furniture to old wheels) related to the lifestyle of previous generations.

Holy Monastery of Kykkos

The Monastery of Kykkos is dedicated to Virgin Mary and it is located in the region of Marathasa. It is built on top of the mountain, at an altitude of 1318 meters northwest of Troodos. In the monastery you will see one of the three icons attributed to St. Luke the Evangelist. The icon is covered in silver gilt and is placed in a case made of tortoise shell and mother of pearl. It is located in front of the iconostasis.

Kourion Theatre

Kourion Theatre is located at the southern end of the steep hill on which the town was built. It was constructed at the end of the 2nd century BC but acquired its current dimensions in the 2nd century AD. The theater consists of a semi-circular orchestra that is surrounded by seats. On either side of the stage there were two arched aisles from where people entered the theater. The theater could accommodate up to 3,500 spectators.

Medieval Castle of Limassol

The Castle of Limassol is located in the heart of the old town, just above the old port. According to tradition, this is where Richard the Lionheart got married to Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England in 1191. The fortification walls are of great archaeological interest and there are speculations that they were part of a much larger castle.
