Pahiorahi is one of the oldest settlements on the island, dating back even before the revolution of 1821. It is a quiet village with few inhabitants. There are no cars or shops here; only two churches and a few stone houses, most of which have been renovated by local or foreign owners.

The Paths of Aegina

In the hinterland of Aegina there is a network of trails that once united the villages from one end of the island to the other. In recent years the mountaineering club "Anavasi" (=Ascent) with the club of Active Citizens have been trying to clean and put signs on those paths so that they can be accessible to visitors/hikers. In fact, Sunday hikes are often organized and are free to participate in. Also, the beautiful map around Mount Elanio has been mapped. You will find more information here.
