Municipal Theatre of Corfu

The Municipal Theatre of Corfu was inaugurated on the day of Christmas, 1998. From December 1998 until April 2002, 363 performances have taken place there. Some of the shows even toured all over Greece and Italy and were attended by more than 142.000 spectators.

Pontikonisi

This is an islet South of Corfu which houses the Byzantine Church of Pantokrator, the only building on the island. You can visit it at Easter and in the summer, by boat, daily from 9am to 9pm.

Achillion Palace

Achillion Palace is located 10 km. far from the main town of the island. It is one of the most famous royal mansions of Europe and perhaps the most important architectural landmark of Corfu. The mansion was built in 1890. It was designed by Italian architects Raffaele Caritto and Antonio Landi and the construction was funded by Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The mansion was dedicated to Achilles and the courtyard was filled with statues of ancient Greek mythology such as the "Seven Muses".

Old Fort

The old Venetian Fortress of Corfu is built on a rocky peninsula. The first inhabitants, the survivors of Corfu after the destruction of the ancient city, arrived here after the 6th century and made this place the main town of the island from the 11th to the 15th century. In the 16th century the Fortress was turned into a military site. The fortifications were built in stages and this took 15 centuries in total. There are three main historical phases:

Palaiokastritsa Beach

Palaiokastritsa Beach is an area of six small bays and beaches. The water in this region is cold because of the streams in the sea. The main and biggest beach is located near the monastery and it has many tourist facilities. Another well-known beach is the one near the harbor where many yachts anchor in the summer. All other beaches are accessible by sea (boat or taxi boat). Most of the beaches are organized with sun loungers, umbrellas, showers and bathrooms.

Drastis Cape

Drastis Cape is hidden in a beautiful wooded landscape in the North Complex of Corfu, in Peroulades village. Around the cape, there are many small, beautiful and secluded beaches and several islets for those of you who want to sunbathe, relax on the beach or go cliff-jumping. You can access these places by sea (either by swimming or by boat from the cape).

Vrika Beach - Antipaxos

Vrika Beach on Antipaxos is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Ionian Sea. It is relatively small, with fine white sand and shallow turquoise waters. The trees and the beauty of the landscape will make you think that you are on an exotic beach of Polynesia. On the beach you will also find two restaurants and a beach bar. You can access Vrika Beach by boat from Gaios.

Mill of Lesianitis

In Tranakatika, close to Gaios, you will find the windmill known as "Mill of Lesianitis". It is built on a base and it is made of stone. It has an internal stone staircase and four symmetrically placed windows.
