Mornos Artificial Lake

Mornos artificial lake is situated at an altitude of 500 meters and is surrounded by Vardoussia and Giona mountains. The lake was formed due to the creation of a dam (126 meters high) to cut the flow of Mornos River. Five hundred eighty million cubic meters of water flooded Kalio village and the region of ancient Gallipoli, thus creating an artificial reservoir with one main purpose: to supply water to the capital.
