Church of Christ at Castle

The church of Christ at Castle was the metropolis of the medieval city. It is a basilica with an inclining wooden roof, built in the 17th century. It has exceptional frescoes and a wooden iconostasis of 1695. The ornamental dishes on the exterior of the temple are of great interest till nowadays. This church has been praised by Alexander Papadiamantis and Alexander Moraitidis in their Christmas novels.

Lagoon of Strofylia

The lagoon is situated soutwest of Skiathos, behind the famous Koukounaries Beach. It communicates with the sea and is surrounded by a pine forest. Many migratory birds find shelter here in order to rest during their journey.

Ahladies Beach

This beautiful beach is two kilometers far from the town of Skiathos. Here you will find nice restaurants and hotels and you can do water sports. The beach is accessible by car, by bus or by boat from the port of Skiathos.

Lalaria Beach

At the northeast end of the island you will find Lalaria Beach, one of the most beautiful in Greece. The northern winds “hit” the impressive white cliffs and this is how the perfectly rounded white pebbles "lalaria" are created. At the edge of the beach, you can see the famous Trypia Petra (meaning Stone with a Hole) while the wild beauty of the landscape and the clean waters will amaze you. You can reach the beach by boat only and that is if there is no wind blowing. There are daily itineraries from the port of Skiathos (unless the weather does not permit it).

Vromolimnos Beach

This is a beautiful beach located at the south coast of Skiathos, just 8km south west of the town. It has calm and crystal clear waters and fine sand. It is considered to be the second most popular beach after Koukounaries. It is organized with sun loungers and umbrellas and it attracts many young visitors who come here to enjoy the sun but also the loud music from the beach bars. You can access the beach by car, taxi or bus.

Troulos Beach

The beach has taken its name from the island located nearby which looks like a “troulos” (= dome). It is located on the southern coast of the island, 9 km from the main town of Skiathos. It has crystalline waters, golden sand and high pine trees that provide shadow to the visitors. The beach is organized with umbrellas, sun loungers and lifeguard service on a daily basis. Troulos beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag for the services provided to visitors, the great organization and its clean waters. You can access the beach by car, bus or boat.

Aselinos Beach

This is a bay with thick sand, pebbles, deep and crystal clear waters. You can reach the beach by car or boat. After your swim, you can enjoy a meal or a drink in the tavern nearby, which also offers live Greek music nights. There is a camping site next to the beach, too.

Banana Beach

The bay was originally called Krassa Bay and it used to be a nudist beach. The landscape is beautiful: pine trees above the beach and crystal clear waters that sparkle under the blazing sun. You can reach the beach by car or bus. If you take the bus though, you will need to walk a short distance from the bus stop till the beach. This place attracts many young people since they can do all kinds of water sports. There are also taverns and cafes in the area.
